Literacy Tutoring

(That is so much more than tutoring)

Learning to read and write is a journey best supported by a team. When families, schools, and literacy specialists work together, children thrive.

That’s why LMC’s tutoring program is designed as a comprehensive literacy partnership—one that supports your child at every level while connecting home, school, and expert guidance.

I am truly amazed at Henry’s progress with your help. He has gone from being very uncomfortable with reading to being excited to read the stories he reads with you. I am so grateful for your expertise and assistance. As a result of his work with you, Henry’s teacher sent me a message that he has made so much progress with reading! This is all thanks to you!

What Sets Leah’s Tutoring Apart?

With over 30 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and consultant to schools and districts across the U.S. and internationally, Leah brings a level of expertise rarely found in private tutoring. She has authored five books on the teaching of reading, writing, and their essential connection—and is deeply respected in the field for her practical, research-based approach.

When you partner with Leah, you’re not just hiring a tutor. You’re gaining:

A Seasoned Literacy Expert:
Certified in the Science of Reading Academy and trained in evidence-based approaches such as Sounds-Write (synthetic phonics) and ThinkSRSD (self-regulated writing). Leah’s work is grounded in frameworks like the Active View of Reading (Duke & Cartwright) and “We Do” model of writing instruction (Mermelstein).

Customized, Data-Driven Support:
Each partnership begins with a comprehensive assessment. Leah designs every session to meet your child’s specific strengths and needs, targeting areas like vocabulary, phonics, fluency, comprehension, phonemic awareness, writing, and spelling. As your child grows, Leah adjusts instruction so they get the right support at the right time.

Seamless School Connection:
Whenever possible, Leah aligns her work with your child’s school curriculum and methods, creating consistent, complementary support. Leah also communicates with teachers and schools to ensure everyone is  working together toward shared goals.

Ongoing Family Engagement:
You’ll receive actionable strategies to reinforce learning at home, along with guidance on how to connect effectively with your child’s school.

Pricing and What’s Included

We’re not offering math tutoring but we know this equation is correct! Our one-on-one tutoring sessions are more than just focused literacy instruction; they’re a bridge between school, home, and expert support. Here’s what LMC offers:

Personalized literacy instruction: One-on-one sessions carefully tailored to your child’s strengths, needs, and evolving goals.

Tailored planning: Behind the scenes, I design each session with intention, drawing on data, research, and your child’s progress.

School communication: I collaborate with your child’s school (when possible) to ensure we’re working in partnership toward shared goals.

Brief weekly check-ins: A short update to keep you informed and aligned.

60 minutes of flexible family/caregiver consultation time across the year: This time can be used in whatever way serves you best including one in-depth meeting, an extensive written report or two shorter meetings.

Leah has provided much needed, evidence-based support for our daughter who was recently diagnosed with dyslexia.

She has gotten to know her learning style and strengths, as well as the areas that require additional support, so that her tutoring sessions are engaging and motivating. She has also answered countless questions and is coordinating with our daughter's instructors at school so that her literacy instruction is fluid.

Leah has been an incredible support for my daughter this year.

Third grade has been a difficult year and she has helped with my daughter's reading comprehension and writing.  And not only has she helped my daughter, Leah has helped me to be able to support my daughter during her nightly homework so that it's less frustrating for my daughter and myself.  I would highly recommend Leah to any child who is struggling with ELA.  She is extremely patient and makes reading and writing fun!
